The Coupy Marker is a long-lasting dry highlighter ― great for kids, but just as useful for adults. A cross between a crayon and a pencil, it doesn’t bleed on paper and being solid, won’t run out of ink. The chunky triangular shape makes them easier for children to hold and, unlike crayons, it doesn’t crumble or leave any residue on the hands. It provides a smooth pencil-like texture on paper that doesn’t obscure writing below and can even be erased with a soft eraser.

Sakura is one of Japan’s best-known makers of crayons, pencils, pens, and other artist and school materials. In 1925, it invented the Cray-pas oil pastel, which remains one of the most popular brands of colourful pastels in Japan ― for both children and professional artists. The Coupy crayon pencils ― durable sticks that are as slim and long as pencils and can be sharpened using a pencil sharpener ― is virtually a cult classic among artists. So familiar are Japanese with Sakura products, many of its most popular products still have the same packaging design since their invention.
