SANPU SANYO APRON SANPU BEIGE L
Regular price £85.00
Inspired by Japan’s traditional maekake, the merchant and artisan’s apron of choice during the Muromachi Period, Sanpu Sanyo brings together three traditional Japanese textiles for a series of striking multi-purpose aprons.
This long version sports a beige sailcloth canvas front panel with woven sanada himo cord wrap-around waist straps — just like original maekake. To give it a contemporary twist, hand-dyed tenugui (traditional cotton handtowels) side panels were added, along with several pockets and a front slit for easy movement.
"Sanpu" means “three cloths,” with this beige tenugui pattern of three rectangles representing the trio of traditional textiles used to make the aprons. It’s perfect for gardening, cooking or any other activity that needs a little extra protection.
We also have a Short version, plus other styles and colours of textiles in our Sanpu Sanyo Collection.
Sanpu Sanyo Aprons come from Kireya, a kimono store with over 100 years history of working with traditional Japanese textile artisans. It also specializes in tenugui design and is an advocate of finding new ways to use the cotton towels.
