We think every cook needs a Nanmoku oroshigane kitchen grater. In fact, there are few homes in Japan that don’t have at least one oroshigane. Traditionally used to shred daikon radish and wasabi into condiments, the fine spikes of these Japanese graters are also perfect for lemon zest, ginger and spices.
Nanmoku’s aluminium version is a compact, lightweight classic design, and anodized to prevent scratches. It comes in three metallic colours — gold, pink and silver, and we have added a handy split bamboo scraping brush.
Nanmoku is the only aluminium clip and peg maker left in Japan. Specializing in pegs since it was established in 1948, its designs have become iconic in the home. The family-run business, now in its fourth generation, still smelts and rolls its own aluminium sheets and continues to make its original mid-century designs.
