Bright and cheery, this Kaya Kiji Dishcloth of vibrant yellow or blue flowers is made with seven layers of fabric for extra absorbency. Its outer layer is made of traditional cotton mosquito netting from Nara, while inside are sheets of natural-fibre rayon. We love how an old textile has been re-imagined into such a useful, pretty item, but most of all how the netting is great for wiping up messy spills.
No item is too small for good design, to see other colorful dishcloths, and other eco-friendly alternatives to paper towels, see our Japanese Textile Collection.
Kaya Kiji are made by Harada Orimono, a Wakayama-based textile manufacturer that prides itself on using hand-threaded and operated machine looms. By focusing on vibrant and elegant design, they bring colour and style to everyday items inspired by Japanese tradition.
