The Ban Inoue Kitchen Towel is made of three layers of super absorbent cotton muslin that soften and lightly fluff up with use. It’s great for drying dishes, but also gentle enough to use as a hand towel. Beautifully simple by design, only the edges are neatly stitched to ensure its layers retain their shape and a braided loop added for hanging.
We love that it’s made using same techniques of Japanese, traditional mosquito nets — a textile known for its durability and quick-drying properties — and the colours, all inspired by traditional hues and nature.
Care instructions: Ban Inoue items are initially starched, they are designed to crumple and soften after washing. Wash in warm water and wring to soften and remove the starch before use. Items may shrink slightly.
See our Ban Inoue Collection for matching and other muslin items or our collection of other Japanese textile goods.
Ban Inoue is based in Nara, one of Japan’s famed traditional rural craft regions that was once the heart of the nation’s mosquito net industry. By adapting the traditional cotton gauze weaving techniques, they create contemporary homeware textile items with a simplicity of beauty inspired by Azumi-Momoyama period Japanese arts, culture and nature.
