The Ban Inoue Pot Holder is a simple yet ingenious idea for those who find oven gloves cumbersome. An open mitt, the pot holder's oval shape is stitched with an outer rib in the centre, making it easier to fold over and grip a pot handle. Its padding makes it more heat resistant than using a tea towel and no more struggling with oversized oven mitts.
The outer layers are 100% cotton Japanese mosquito net muslin, a traditional craft textile of Nara in Japan known for its absorbency and quick drying properties. Inside, a layer of polyester padding ensures that heat will not reach the fingertips. We love the details of nature-inspired colours and a tightly woven, traditional Sanada-himo loop to make it easy to hang and dry.
Care instructions: Ban Inoue items are initially starched, they are designed to crumple and soften after washing. Wash in warm water and wring to soften and remove the starch before use. Items may shrink slightly.

Ban Inoue is based in Nara, one of Japan’s famed traditional rural craft regions that was once the heart of the nation’s mosquito net industry. By adapting the traditional cotton gauze weaving techniques, they create contemporary homeware textile items with a simplicity of beauty inspired by Azumi-Momoyama period Japanese arts, culture and nature.
