RURIKO KOJIMA IKEBANA WORKSHOP
We are delighted to welcome back to NiMi Loft in Sevenoaks, the master Ikebana artisan Ruriko Kojima.
Ruriko has over 20 years of ikebana flower arranging experience, practicing in both Japan and the UK. A former president of the Ohara England Chapter of ikebana, she has presented demonstrations at the Queens Gallery, Buckingham Palace and Japan House. Her displays for Ohara England Chapter presentations at the Royal Horticultural Society in Hampton Court have won her medals, and she continues to give regular presentations and classes in central London.
We love that she also insists on teaching classes in full kimono for an ultimate Japanese experience!
Ruriko's class includes all the materials needed and you'll take home your own arrangement, complete with vase and kenzan (flower frog).
Learn the traditional craft of Japanese flower arranging, an art form with over 600 years of history. Since the Muromachi Period (1336 – 1573), ikebana has been a canon of Japanese beauty, its distinctive styles steeped in history and nurtured by culture to evolve into the refined arrangements we still see today. It's a spiritual and symbolic pastime, reflecting our own relationship with the forces of nature, its beauty and seasons.
