We love how pop-up books are the playful inspiration behind House Martin’s Pop-Up Vases. Made in Tsubame Sanjo, Niigata, the renowned traditional metalworking center of Japan, each of these vessels is cleverly folded from a single sheet of steel. A silhouette of a bottle, carafe or pitcher is pushed outward to turn the 2D graphic design into a 3D contemporary artwork. Available in gentle hues, each one houses a glass test tube to hold a single flower of a sprig of foliage.
Pick from three versions, this dusky blue Carafe with a soft off-white background, a soft pink Bottle with green background, and a striking yellow pitcher against grey.
Fun but also so incredibly elegant, these vases are a new design by an award-winning up-coming Japanese design team. Visit our House Martin Collection to see them all.
House Martin is a design collective of three young, talented Japanese designers: Shigeyuki Sugi, Gensuke Kishi and Yukimasa Hirota. They have all collaborated with metalworking manufacturers in Tsubame Sanjo to produce minimalist and playful designs that thoughtfully showcase beauty and skilled craftsmanship behind Japanese metalware.
